For many years I was imprisoned in the cruel captivity of eating disorders, until I won! At the age of 14, I was told a sentence that changed my life from end to end, after that sentence an eating disorder broke out in me, it started with anorexia, then bulimia and in the end also compulsive eating. For 20 years I have been on the gamut of all eating disorders, especially bulimia, on the outside everything seemed fine, but inside I had a sort of self-destruct button, I would press it every day, sometimes several times a day... I dealt with fears and anxieties following trauma from age 4, I had difficulty looking at people at eye level, I was so sensitive that with a word or a look they could "murder" me. At the age of 34 I realized that it was hurting not only me but mainly my children, I was looking for the way out of this hell..... mainly for them!
After years of struggle, I defeated the eating disorders ✨ I lifted my head above the toilet, since then I look at everyone at eye level, my self-confidence has returned to me and my life is beautiful, I experienced another trauma on 7/10/2023, my daughter, Eden Zakaria, daughter 27, was kidnapped to Gaza and murdered in captivity by Hamas, the 14th, I felt that my world was against me, I had to mobilize all my mental strength and tools The mental skills I gained in the last 13 years following the treatment of bulimia, to deal with the period of captivity and bereavement. The same practical tools that helped me deal with the post-trauma and eating disorders, also helped me during the period of captivity and today during the period of bereavement.
This is a personal story about dealing with life's challenges, I am not poor and I am not a victim, I cannot change reality because it was imposed on me, but I choose how to look at reality and channel it to help other people who are still suffering, especially the members of their families whose suffering is indescribable, We cannot change the past, but we have the possibility to change the present for a better future, we are not to blame for the challenges that reality throws at us, but we are responsible for doing the best we can.
